Volta Restaurant
The heart and soul of Borneta, Volta sits beneath the historic Porxos de Fontseré arches, celebrating the spirit of Western Mediterranean cuisine, while embracing Barcelona’s local bounty and the Italian roots of Executive Chef, Andrea De Benedictis. Our name carries a double meaning: the architectural curve and the act of voltar, to stroll and to wander. It reflects a Mediterranean way of life, unhurried, generous and steeped in heritage.
At Volta, Andrea’s cooking champions fresh, seasonal produce and timeless techniques, bringing together influences from Spain and Italy in ways that are both authentic and inventive. Our philosophy is simple: honour the ingredient, let the seasons guide us, and create sharing dishes that celebrate connection at the table. Three signature plates anchor the menu: tender Girona roast beef, gently cooked and finished with a Mediterranean flourish; red prawn tartare from local waters, balanced with smooth salmorejo and creamy ricotta; and a tempura parmigiana, set on aubergine cream with confit tomato mayo and pesto.
We work closely with small-scale farmers, cheesemakers and vintners who share our respect for tradition and seasonality.
Volta Bar
An extension of our restaurant, Volta Bar is a celebration of Italy’s aperitivo culture: a ritual of gathering, sipping and savouring. It is a lively yet intimate space, designed with natural materials, rich Mediterranean tones and abundant greenery. By day, a beautiful skylight floods the bar with natural light; by night, it becomes softly illuminated beneath the stars, with a drinks list inspired by Italy’s iconic aperitivo traditions.
Signature cocktails include the Negroni Mediterraneo, a coastal twist on the classic made with Cocchi Americano; the Briny Martini, bold with Italicus, vermouth and smoky buttered sardines; the refreshing Riviera, a playful take on the Americano with Savoia and tonic; and the Maragda Sour, where sage and butter evoke the flavours of a traditional ravioli sauce. Each drink captures the Italian philosophy of simple pleasures elevated through craft and care. Alongside our Mediterranean cocktail section, there is an equally strong collection of spirits from around the world, always interpreted with Mediterranean ingredients and style.
Our wine list is equally devoted to discovery. We highlight small-scale Italian producers from lesser-known appellations, wines with story, character and a true sense of place. From a Barolo made by a family-run vineyard to rare varietals from pre-phylloxera vines, every bottle is chosen for its character and the sense of journey it brings to the table.
