Christmas Markets
Vienna shines in December, and staying in the 1st District places you close to some of its most characterful Christmas markets. Stephansplatz is the nearest, an elegant circle of stalls around the cathedral offering refined crafts and thoughtful seasonal treats. Rathausplatz is the city’s grand showcase, filled with wooden toys, glowing ornaments and classic sweet favourites. A little further out, Schönbrunn Palace brings an imperial touch with Austrian craftsmanship, hearty dishes and live music. Spittelberg offers a more local rhythm, its narrow lanes lined with small-scale makers, warm drinks and comforting winter bites.

Mornings at Baroness
Let Baroness set you up for a day of exploring this season. At the heart of Palais Rudolf, our Italian restaurant and bar offers a calm and elegant start to the morning, currently open for hotel guests only. From 7-11am each day, you can settle in with an aromatic espresso, a selection of breakfast favourites and artisanal pastries that ease you gently into the day, and the bar continues the rhythm with light bites and drinks available throughout the day. It’s the ideal prelude to winter streets, and festivities waiting just beyond our doors.
