We are committed to ensuring that our digital services are accessible to all individuals, including people with disabilities.
We are currently reviewing and enhancing our website to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These internationally recognised standards are designed to improve accessibility for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures to support accessibility
To support accessibility, we have already implemented a number of measures across our website, including:
- Alternative text has been added to images where appropriate.
- The website is is designed to support keyboard navigation across key functionality, enabling users to navigate interactive elements using standard keyboard controls, including:
- Tab and Shift + Tab to move forwards and backwards through interactive elements
- Enter and Spacebar to activate buttons and links
- Arrow keys to navigate menus and dropdowns
- Escape to close menus, dropdowns, and modal windows where applicable
- The website includes page-level HTML language declarations to support screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Typography has been designed to respond to browser and device settings, allowing users to adjust text size through their browser’s built-in accessibility controls.
- We conduct ongoing reviews of keyboard accessibility and interactive components to help ensure that all users can access key website functionality.
Known limitations
While we strive to make our website as accessible as possible, we acknowledge that some areas may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Known limitations include:
- Heading structures across some pages may not always follow a fully consistent hierarchy. We are reviewing content templates and page structures as part of our accessibility improvement programme.
- Content written in a different language from the main page language may not always include the appropriate language declarations required by assistive technologies.
- We are currently reviewing colour contrast across the website and updating components where required to improve readability .
- Some video content may not include captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions.
- The website does not currently provide a built-in manual font-size adjustment feature; however, users can increase or decrease text size using their browser or device accessibility settings.
We are actively working to identify and address accessibility issues, prioritising those that may significantly impact user access.
